Sponsor-a-Player Board
Donors 'adopt' a specific athlete's season at a fixed amount, and the roster board fills up name by name until every player is covered.
Why it works
Abstract goals get skimmed; a named kid who needs $180 to play gets funded. The visible board creates completion pressure, nobody wants to see three uncovered players at the bottom.
How to run it
- 1
Set the real per-player number: season fees, uniform, and travel divided per athlete (round to something clean like $150 or $200).
- 2
Create an Athlete Fundraising campaign, then invite athletes to register or import the roster so every player can activate a personal page.
- 3
Have each athlete personalize the page and add 10-20 trusted contacts at kickoff; Sports Supporters runs the organizer's scheduled email and text sequence automatically. Start with the suggested cadence or adjust it to the sponsorship deadline.
- 4
Publish a simple 'board' post (roster list with ✅ as players get covered) and update it every few days, the visual fill-up drives the stragglers.
- 5
Let donors split a player too: grandparents at $50 each cover a kid together.
- 6
When the board is full, post the team photo with every sponsor thanked by name.
Responsibilities
Who does what, and when, so nothing slips.
- Set the per-player amount, choose self-registration or roster import, and keep the board post updated.
- Make sure every family activates their athlete's page in week one.
- Add 10-20 contacts at registration so the sequence can run.
- Personalize the page with a photo and one line about the season; optional social sharing adds reach.
