Pro / College Ticket Night
Sell seats to a local pro, minor-league, or college game out of a reserved group block. The team gives you a discounted rate, you sell at face value, and the spread is yours, on top of a night your families actually want to go to.
Why it works
You aren't asking anyone for money, you're selling something families already buy. Group tickets sell themselves once the date is set, and most teams sweeten the block with on-field recognition or a pregame parade that turns an ordinary game into a team memory.
How to run it
- 1
Call the group sales office of the nearest pro, minor-league, or college team 6-8 weeks out. Ask for their youth-sports or fundraising group program by name, most have one, and get the per-seat rate, the block size, the payment deadline, and the return-unsold-seats policy in writing.
- 2
Do the math before you commit. If they hold seats at $18 and the face price is $28, every seat sold nets $10. Decide whether you can return unsold seats or you're on the hook for the whole block, that single term decides how big a block you can safely take.
- 3
Ask what experiences come with the block. Many teams include a pregame on-field or on-court parade, a between-innings recognition, a scoreboard message, or a team-branded giveaway, and none of it costs you extra. Lock in whatever they'll give you before you start selling.
- 4
Create a Ticketed Event on Sports Supporters for your seats and sell at face value. Set the order deadline a week before the team's payment deadline so you have time to reconcile and turn the block back if you need to.
- 5
Add the extras that raise the average order: a bus or van seat, a pregame tailgate or pizza gathering, and a team-branded shirt everyone wears in your section so your group is unmistakable in the stands.
- 6
Add a donation option at checkout for the families who can't make the game but want to chip in, and for the grandparents who'd rather just give.
- 7
Turn it into a contest. In a Sales by Athlete fundraiser, each athlete sells from their own tracked link, and a small prize for the top seller usually moves more seats than any group email.
- 8
Post the section, the date, and the deadline everywhere your families already talk, and remind them twice. Group blocks sell in the last 72 hours.
- 9
Load your contact list and let the built-in email + text sequence do the reminding (Write with AI drafts the messages), most gifts arrive on the second or third touch.
Responsibilities
Who does what, and when, so nothing slips.
- Negotiate the block with the team's group sales office and get the rate, deadline, and unsold-seat policy in writing.
- Create the ticketed event, price at face value, and set your order deadline ahead of theirs.
- Reconcile the final count, pay the team, and distribute the tickets.
- Sell seats to relatives, neighbors, and coworkers from a tracked link.
- Show up in team gear and fill the section.
