Used Gear Swap & Sale
Families donate outgrown cleats, sticks, pads, and bags; the team resells them cheap at a preseason event. Zero cost of goods, pure margin, and new families save a fortune.
Why it works
Youth gear gets outgrown before it wears out, so every garage is inventory. Families feel great donating it, budget families feel great buying it, and 100% of every sale is profit.
How to run it
- 1
Announce a two-week gear donation window with drop-off bins at practice; ask specifically for cleats, helmets, sticks, bats, bags, and team bags.
- 2
Sort by size, wipe everything down, and price simply: $5 / $10 / $20 stickers move product; this is volume, not margin-per-item.
- 3
Skip anything safety-critical past its certification date (helmets especially), donate those to a reconditioner instead.
- 4
Run the sale table at a preseason event, tryout day, or registration night, right where new families already are.
- 5
Take payment through a simple team store page + QR at the table so nobody needs cash.
- 6
List the 10-15 best items (barely-used cleats, premium sticks) on the store page for the whole season, the long tail keeps paying.
- 7
Load your contact list and let the built-in email + text sequence do the reminding (Write with AI drafts the messages), most gifts arrive on the second or third touch.
- 8
Boost it: a ~$20 Facebook & Instagram ad from the campaign's Ads tab reaches thousands of local people an organic post never will.
Responsibilities
Who does what, and when, so nothing slips.
- Run the donation window, the sizing sort, and the pricing.
- Set up the sale table + QR at an event families already attend.
- Empty the garage: donate everything outgrown.
- Spread the word to new families who need cheap gear.
